A Still You'll Know Inside and Out
The 15 gallon EZ Kit is a you-build copper still. You assemble it, so you understand it. That knowledge pays off every time you clean and maintain it, because you already know where every joint sits and how each piece fits together. It's the Advanced Model, with an EZ Seal Cap and a 4 inch thumper port.
Pre-Run Checklist
- Look over each joint for gaps, pinholes, or dull spots in the solder.
- Seat the EZ Seal Cap and confirm it sits evenly all the way around.
- Make sure the 4 inch thumper port connection is clean and snug.
- Set the still on a stable, level surface with good ventilation around it.
Cleaning Copper, Step by Step
Copper reacts with what it touches. That's part of the chemistry that makes it the traditional choice, and it's also why cleaning matters. After every run, rinse with clean water while the still is still warm. Let it drain and air-dry completely. When the inside starts to look dull or spotted, give it a deeper cleaning and then rinse thoroughly. The outside can be polished whenever you like, or left to develop a natural patina.
Seasonal Maintenance
If the still will sit for a while, clean and dry it fully first. Store it with the cap off so moisture can't get trapped inside. When you bring it back out, do a water run before anything else. That's your test that everything still seals the way it did on day one.
Owning a still is legal in the US. Distilling alcohol requires a federal TTB permit, so follow federal, state, and local law. Questions? Call 603-997-6786.
