Start With the Right Size
The EZ Kit comes in twelve sizes: 2, 6, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, and 100 gallons. Every size shares the same Advanced Model design, with an EZ Seal Cap and a 4 inch thumper port. Choose by how you'll really use it. Smaller pots are quick to heat and easy to learn on. Larger pots suit people who already know their process and want capacity.
The Soldering Session
This is a you-solder kit, so the build is the first lesson. Give yourself an unhurried afternoon:
- Clean every mating surface until it's bright copper.
- Dry-fit the whole assembly before you heat a single joint.
- Heat the copper, not the solder, and let the solder flow into the joint.
- Let each joint cool on its own before you move to the next one.
Understanding Cuts
Licensed distillers separate a run into parts as it comes off the still: the early fraction, the heart of the run, and the tail end. Making cuts is where the scientist in you takes over. You watch temperature, smell, and flow, and you write it all down. Practice the observation part with water runs. You'll learn how your still responds to heat long before cuts ever matter.
Maintenance That Sticks
Rinse the still after each use, dry it fully, and store it with the EZ Seal Cap off so air can circulate. Inspect your solder joints before every run.
Owning a still is legal in the US. Distilling alcohol requires a federal TTB permit, so follow federal, state, and local law. Need help choosing a size? Call 603-997-6786.
